KAN-D EXPLORER PARKA
An entirely unique semi-transparent flat-tened monofilament nylon fabric, this material, named KAN-D, is a testament to the company’s 50 years of garment dyeing experience and internal philosophy.
As production manager Stefano Polato ex-plains: “Most companies would abandon the development of this fabric after the first few experiments.” The reason for this is principally the enormous difference in shrinkage between the warp and weft yarns during dyeing as well as the incredible sensitivity of the material to heat, meaning that, for example, far longer drying times must be employed to protect the fabric from thermal shock. These difficulties also mean that panels for the garment have to be cut against the grain, adding further complica-tions to the process of industrialization of the material. The fabric was first presented in C.P. Company’s landmark Autumn/ Winter 2020-21 Next Landscape collection in three different styles, including this full-length Explorer parka.
