City Sound Berlin

The 19th September 1987 marked the occasion of 750th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Berlin as well as the 150th anniversary of the birth of the textile manufacturing industry. The Minister for Labour and the Economy and the Mayor of the City organized a retrospective exhibition of Massimo Osti’s work curated by Franco Bruccoleri in the rooms of the Reichstag. Invited to stage a runway show in the citadel of Spandau, for the first and only time in his career and in homage to the emblematic city of Berlin, Massimo accepted, under his own conditions, and invented a musical and theatrical performance with on-stage outfit changes, based on sounds of the landscape such as cars, work, the city, the sea and the wind. Inspired by these sounds Massimo Torrigiani and Stefano Barnaba created music for a video shot by the director Renato de Maria during the days of the exhibition. Whilst the voice of Angela Baraldi accompanied the music that soundtracked a performance by mime artists dressed in C.P. Company. The LP City Sound Berlin became the first ever musical production created specifically for a fashion event.
